History

The Indian community has established itself in the Yonkers area over a period of more than 4 decades. It is ennobling to the community as well as for the host country to see that diverse cultural forms are enjoyed and enjoined in the mosaic that portrays the beautiful cultural fabric of the US today. It will only enrich the American cultural horizon to welcome and encourage the various linguistic, musical and dance forms from India. The MGM STUDY CENTER has been, from its inception attempting to do just that.

The congregation worshiping in the St. Gregorios church, Yonkers is mostly keralites whose native language is Malayalam. The MGM had taken the initiative to teach Malayalam and also Hindi, India’s first official language to the growing Indian American population of youngsters in Westchester. Of course, this small endeavor is not aimed at belittling the prominence and significance of the English language among members of this energetic and enterprising community.
